The image release reflects the latest labeling approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to accurately reflect how Plan B works, by temporarily delaying the release of an egg from the ovary. It does not impact the implantation of a fertilized egg. This comes at a time when clear and accurate women’s health information is needed.
“Up-to-date product images aren’t just a nice-to-have; they’re critical to ensure everyone has the accurate information to make informed health decisions,” emphasized Tara Evans, Vice President, Women’s Health at FCH. “We want to ensure media, educators, and healthcare professionals can access the current product images that reflect the FDA’s labeling update and supporting data, so they can better educate consumers.”
What’s Included in the Image Library:
- High-resolution images of current Plan B One-Step packaging
- Flat and angled views on three different backgrounds
- FDA-compliant labeling
- Suggested editorial captions for proper attribution
These images are cleared for non-commercial editorial use. They will be distributed through media and wire services and indexed by platforms like Getty Images to ensure consistent and widespread visibility and usage across trusted outlets.
Why It Matters
The misconception that levonorgestrel emergency contraception, like Plan B, interferes with implantation or is an abortion pill can present barriers to access and availability. This visual materials update will help reduce confusion on how Plan B One-Step works and further clarify that Plan B is backup birth control and does not affect an existing pregnancy.
Simultaneously, FCH is initiating formal takedown requests to remove inaccurate, non-compliant, or outdated images of Plan B One-Step from public databases and image libraries to prevent misinformation.
